Sometimes you find a local business simply because something needs to be done.
We live in a complex in Klerksdorp, and after our usual garden maintenance had been interrupted a few times, the weeds on our driveway paving had got completely out of hand. It looked untidy, and we needed some help getting things back under control.
That is how I found Mark’s Gardening Services.
Mark came out, had a look at what needed doing and gave me a quote to cut the grass. I explained that there was a possibility the grass might already have been cut by the time he arrived for the job, and asked whether he would be willing to spend the time doing something else that needed attention instead.
“No worries.”
And he meant it.
Mark arrived on time with two members of his team. The grass didn’t need his attention, so they got to work elsewhere.
They cleaned the paving and removed the weeds. They tidied around the swimming pool. They worked through areas that badly needed attention and, by the time they were finished, they had done considerably more than I had expected.
What impressed me most was the way the job was done.
There was no fuss. Mark was friendly and respectful, his team worked, and everything they removed was actually taken away.
That last bit deserves mentioning.
There is a particular kind of frustration in paying someone to clean a garden, only to discover afterwards that the grass cuttings, weeds and garden waste have simply been moved to a less visible corner of your property.
There was none of that here.
They cleaned up properly and took the garden waste with them.
Then, after Mark had left, I received a message from him:
“Dankie, my vrou, vir die geleentheid.”
It was such a small thing, but it said quite a lot.
Good local service isn’t always about elaborate promises, impressive websites or big businesses. Sometimes it is simply someone arriving when they said they would, treating you and your property with respect, doing the work properly, and leaving the place better than they found it.
That was my experience with Mark’s Gardening Services, and it is why I am comfortable recommending him to other residents in the Klerksdorp area.
