Klerksdorp โ€” The SANBS Donor Award Ceremony Klerksdorp brought heartfelt celebration, deep gratitude and true community warmth to Vintage Affair on Friday, 21 November 2025. Usually known for hosting stylish functions, the venue was transformed into a glowing fairytale setting for the evening โ€” soft lighting, sweeping dรฉcor and a magical atmosphere worthy of honouring the heroes who donate blood, plasma and platelets to save lives.   This annual event forms part of the SANBSโ€™s nationwide donor recognition awards, where individuals across South Africa are acknowledged for their incredible long-term commitment to blood donation. Shivanie Lutchman, Head of Donor Relations for the Vaal region at SANBS, led the evening with grace and warmth. Her smile rarely left her face as each name was called, and her heartfelt congratulations reminded everyone how important these contributions are โ€” especially in a country where blood shortages remain a constant challenge.

Honouring Milestones at the SANBS Donor Award Ceremony Klerksdorp

This yearโ€™s SANBS Donor Award Ceremony Klerksdorp recognised donors who achieved a wide range of remarkable milestones โ€” from 50 units to more than 300. Each person honoured demonstrated years of commitment, returning time and again to give something many take for granted.   One of the standout recognitions of the evening went to Rudolph Peens, who has donated an extraordinary 325 units over his lifetime. His medal presentation received a loud and well-deserved round of applause. With each unit potentially saving up to three lives, his contribution symbolizes hundreds of South Africans impacted over the years.   Donors who reached 200 units and higher were awarded gold-framed certificates and medals, marking their exceptional dedication. Others who reached 50, 75, 100, 125, 150 and 175 units also received meaningful certificates, each representing compassion, time and a willingness to help strangers.

One of the sweetest moments of the evening was the recognition of identical twins Marina and Roelien Coetzee, well-known local hospital staff and beloved community members. The sisters โ€” dressed alike, smiling alike and radiating their trademark energy โ€” were honoured for donating 150 units each. Their presence added a sentimental charm, highlighting how blood donation becomes a lifelong habit rooted in kindness.

A Magical Evening at Vintage Affair Klerksdorp

Vintage Affair truly embraced the spirit of the night. The venue was dressed in soft elegance, fairy-tale touches and warm lighting that made the celebration feel intimate and special. Guests enjoyed posing at a 360-degree video booth provided by Side-Eye Photography, which formed part of the entertainment for the evening. Many attendees spun slowly on the platform, laughing as the camera captured the moment โ€” a fun touch that brought lightness to the formal event.

Adding to the liveliness of the programme was the charismatic MC Cheryl Goodman Katz, who kept the audience entertained with witty humour, rugby jokes and warm storytelling. Her presence added energy to the ceremony, ensuring the night was filled with both heartfelt moments and joyful laughter.  As guests mingled between tables, congratulated friends and shared stories, the atmosphere felt almost magical โ€” a true celebration of humanity and community spirit.  A special thank you and shout-out must also go to Obakeng Rapudi and the entire team of SANBS for his unwaivering spirit and hard work for all their events.

Why the SANBS Donor Award Ceremony Klerksdorp Matters

Beyond the beauty of the night, the message remained clear and deeply resonant: donating blood is vital, especially in South Africa where shortages are frequent and festive seasons bring increased road accidents. SANBS continually emphasises that blood donation is not only an act of kindness โ€” it is an essential service that families rely on every day.  The SANBS Donor Award Ceremony Klerksdorp served as a reminder of just how many lives are touched by the selfless efforts of ordinary people. One unit of blood can save up to three lives, and one regular donor can positively affect entire families for years.  As the evening drew to a close, a sense of gratitude lingered in the air. The recognition, applause and smiles were more than ceremony โ€” they were appreciation for the โ€œblood, sweat and tearsโ€ donors willingly give. Perhaps the โ€œtearsโ€ were not from pain but from the emotional realisation of how much their contributions matter.
