Klerksdorp – For the past 19 years, the Triest Training Centre (TTC) has been a beacon of care, growth, and empowerment for people with intellectual disabilities in the North West Province. Founded with the mission to develop, motivate, educate, support, and advocate, TTC offers a loving, homely environment where each person is encouraged to reach their full potential. Supported by the Brothers of Charity, the North West Government, and the community, TTC continues to thrive as a safe and nurturing space.
Capacity & Care.TTC serves 75 clients, with 35 residents living in five houses with housemothers, while others attend the daily activity centre. A social worker supports emotional and behavioural needs. An auxiliary nurse assists with general health and medication management.
Life Skills & Activities
Weekly life skills programmes cover vital everyday topics, while activity departments develop talent through
- Arts & Crafts – knitting, mosaics, woodwork, jewellery, decorated bottles, dog beds, and more.
Catering Kitchen – biscuits, rusks, pies, catering for events, and weekly take-away menus.
Gardening & Car Wash – maintaining the centre, residences, and offering Friday car wash services.
Cultural Development – choir, percussion instruments, stage productions, and multiple gold awards at the Eisteddfod.
Laundry Services – affordable one-day laundry for the public.
Sport & Achievements
TTC promotes fitness through horse riding, swimming, bocce, athletics, gym, floor hockey, and chess. Every year, clients compete at national championships for SOSA and SASii. In 2019, four TTC clients proudly represented South Africa at the Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi.
