Klerksdorp – September 2025 — Laerskool Saamtrek is celebrating an unforgettable sporting achievement after two of its young athletes returned home with gold medals from the COSSASA Games in Swaziland.
Alto Wiggett and Nélike van den Berg both claimed first place in their respective events, proudly representing South Africa on the international stage. Alto secured victory with a winning distance of 54.17m, while Nélike triumphed with a throw of 35.27m.
Both athletes were coached and guided by Erich Wiese, whose dedication has played a vital role in their success.
“This is an incredible honour, not only for our learners but also for our school community and the North West region,” said a spokesperson for Laerskool Saamtrek. “To see Alto and Nélike excel at this level shows what can be achieved with talent, discipline, and commitment.”
The school expressed immense pride in the athletes, describing the achievement as a milestone that will inspire future generations.
